Type of Stone Preseli Bluestone Dreamstones should be made from 'Spotted Dolerite'. Other types of stone sometimes referred to as Bluestone do not exhibit the same qualities. Bluestone is considered by many to be sacred or magic, with unique metaphysical properties connecting to the expanding universe and the illusive spiritual realms. Stones with at least one unpolished face or edge are preferable for meditation and dream work. The shape of a pillow with rounded edges seems to work well, and not really any larger than about 30mm. For meditation work in particular it is considered potentially helpful to have a stone small enough to place on the forehead without causing any significant physical sensation. It has been recently suggested that small round cabochon shapes with unpolished bases would make ideal 'third eye' stones and Celtworld will be producing a new batch of 'third eye' cabochons, specially prepared to try this idea out. For those with a 5 – 10 gram dreamstone, usually kept about your person or placed beneath your pillow, this is the optimum position for the Dreamstone effect. Meditation Guidelines: It is recommended that you do not conduct meditation excercises in the vicinity of large quantities of Bluestone. If you have a large individual stone, such as an altar piece, it will be best to place the stone some distance away from you when you when working with a dreamstone. Before you begin, hold the Bluestone in your hand for a few minutes until it is warm. Make sure that you are in a comfortable and reclined position and place your Bluestone on your forehead, at the 'third eye' position. Bluestone has a preferred orientation. This will not always be the same position. If you experience a slight headache when using the stone, do not worry, this actually shows that you are particularly receptive. Try changing the orientation of the stone, by turning it over or rotating it through 90 degrees for example. Some feedback from a user with a large Bluestone: My daughter has a large Bluestone pendulum that she can only have near to her at certain times, as she says she can't concentrate on her tasks as her head fills with images when she is holding it. She tried sleeping with it a while ago and had to stop as she was exhausted - she said she didn't get a single good night's sleep when ever she had the stone under her pillow - she said her mind was racing all night! Note from Celtworld.co.uk: We have produced a number of these pendulums for dowsing and crystal healing purposes and have received reports that they are extremely powerful. More relevant user feedback: The dreaming process seems to have started simply from handling the stone so I'm keeping a diary - there is definitely a difference between having the unpolished edge and the fully polished stone I had been using.
